Da cor do Ébano: arte e valorização da beleza afro-brasileira na escola

Abstract

“The color of ebony: Art and valorization of Afro-Brazilian aesthetics at School” is the result of the pedagogical proposal implemented at the State Center for Professional Education Hélio Xavier de Vasconcelos / Extremoz / RN focus of the present master's work. The theoretical reflections - around decolonial thinking - and educational reflections that inspired “The color of ebony” are developed in this article and are aligned with the debate around the insertion of history in Afro-Brazilian culture as foreseen in Law 10.639 / 03, whose objective is to promote the fight against racism in the school environment. Such actions have been carried out in a school context marked by an ethnic Afro-descendant majority who do not see this identity positively, nor can they envision the practice and perpetuation of structural racism in their daily lives. It is in this context that we have been promoting didactic activities that seek to involve students in the debate on the construction of social identities, multiculturalism, aesthetics, subjectivities, ethnic, cultural and racism, focusing on the promotion of Afro-descendant identities using visual arts languages as instruments of representation and appreciation of black aesthetics in the school environment.
