O adjetivo em gêneros argumentativos no ambiente virtual

Abstract

The adjective has traditionally been seen as an adnominal adjunct, modifying the content of a noun, or as a predicative, focusing on the subject or object of the clause. Although there are already linguistic studies that seek to present other aspects of this lexical class, including its textual function, for example, most are limited to describing it in its morphological, syntactic and/or semantic aspects. Therefore, this Dissertation aims to analyze the use of the adjective as an argumentative support in textual genres in the virtual environment of web, seeking to show the influence of this class in the argumentative construction of the text. The theoretical bases come from North American Functional Linguistics (GIVÓN, 1995; BYBEE, 2010, among others), adding to these studies on argumentation (GRÁCIO, 2010; FIORIN, 2014), face and politeness (GOFFMAN, 1980), the concept of the orality and scriptural continuum (KOCH; OESTEREICHER, 2013), since some genres are closer to orality, although they are in graphic form, in addition to specific studies on the adjective (SILVA; PRIA, 2001; SILVA, 2019 and others). Regarding the methodological procedures, this work is qualitative-interpretative with quantitative support, with the purpose of verifying the frequency of use, regularities and tendencies in the realization of the argumentative adjective within the analyzed environment. The corpus consists of opinionated texts, in written form, taken from the internet, with 6 (six) genres selected: post, complaint, reader's comment, film review, editorial and advertisement. With this study, we seek to cover a plurality of uses of the adjective, which has not yet been analyzed in this context, which can also contribute to the teaching of this linguistic category.
