A poética da contação de histórias no espetáculo “O lendário coração da África"

Abstract

This article aims to reflect on some of the experiences I had within my research with storytelling and theater. Storytelling can be the hybridism of many arts, becoming a performative-artistic act (SISTO, 2012). As a result of these researches, I created a workshop entitled “Storytelling with Theater Techniques”, in which I share theater pedagogical practices so that a story can be told by staging it. I report workshops given and then approach the criation of a theater play using the same pedagogical strategies that I created for the workshop. This creative process involving storytelling and theatrical techniques brings contributions to the area of children's theater and theater for all ages, as well as to the teaching of arts in schools. The show was created from African tales and legends and is called “The Legendary Heart of Africa”. Inspired by the Ubuntu philosophy and the figure of the griot (BERNAT, 2008), with a cast of black representation, the show is relevant to awaken in people of all ages the importance of recognizing, affirming and valuing afro-brazilian culture.
