Abstract

This work analyzes the documentary series Séries Vermelhas, produced by Pós-TV DHnet in 2024, a year that marks the 50th anniversary of the disappearance of Luiz Ignácio Maranhão Filho, a native of Rio Grande do Norte who was killed by the military regime. The analysis is based on the principles of the National Human Rights Education Plan (PNEDH), published in 2006, and the content analysis method proposed by Bardin (2016). To this end, a bibliographic review was conducted to contextualize the 1964 military coup in Rio Grande do Norte and to position Luiz Maranhão as a central figure of that period, based on the works of Galvão (1995), Góes (1999), and Studart (2006). Furthermore, an overview is presented mapping the global human rights protection system through initiatives that address the issues of Memory, Truth, and Justice as a way of recognizing the violations committed under authoritarian governments, with particular focus on the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) of the Organization of American States (OAS).
