Experiência de implantação da política de inclusão e acessibilidade da UFRN no Instituto Metrópole Digital

Abstract

Inclusion of people with specific educational needs is still challenging. Despite advances, inclusion actions in higher education are usually restricted to the Accessibility Centers of institutions. This paper reports part of the deployment experience of the Inclusion and Accessibility Policy of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), in 2019. In particular, in the clipping of what occurred in the Instituto Metrópole Digital, one of its academic units. One of the intentions of this policy is to decentralize inclusion actions culturally restricted to the Accessibility Center and distribute them to their academic units. The paper reports the context of inclusion in the university, highlights characteristics of its Inclusion Policy and describes the context of this academic unit. Then, this report continues on the inclusion actions carried out in the first year of implementation of this Policy. Results and challenges were discussed to serve as useful learning to university management in similar initiatives.
