Barriers to expand solar photovoltaic energy in Brazil

Renewable energy has promoted increasingly diffused propulsions in political, social and organizational environments because of their relevance to future climatic conditions and restrictions on natural resources that threaten environmental impacts. Brazil has enormous potential to exploit renewable energy, especially hotovoltaic solar energy, since it has a daily solar incidence of between 4,500 Wh/m2 and 6,300 Wh/m2. However, the development of this energy in Brazil faces barriers that end up hindering its implementation and expansion. The objective of the research is to identify and measure the impact of these barriers to the expansion of photovoltaic solar energy in Brazil, through the modeling of structural equations. For the development of the article, interviews with managers of the solar energy sector were carried out all over the country
Contributions of the teaching assistance program for the formation of engineering professors: a survey in a Brazilian Federal University

This article aimed to identify whether the introductory course teaching of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN, Brazil) contributes to the formation of engineering professors. Still, it sought to identify the main teaching and learning methodologies that tutors and teachers used in undergraduate classes, and to identify the assessment tools used by teachers and how the performance of graduate students, teaching as trainees, contributes to the improvement of undergraduate education. As regards the methodological aspects, it is a descriptive research, using quantitative and qualitative approaches, and having target audience students enrolled in graduate programs in engineering of UFRN, who performed the teaching stage and made the introductory course teaching in 2012. The results show that the experience as an intern teaching contributes to developing some skills in graduate students to serve as lecturers in engineering courses
Cooperative networks for innovation: a panorama of the Brazillian scenario between 2003 and 2011

The complexity of the innovation process and the difficulty faced by organizations when performing their required activities to stay active and competitive have led to a large number of companies to work in a network. This network enables the sharing of risks and resources, provides access to information and solutions, and facilitates research and development among other means of innovation with regard to products and processes. In this context, this paper mainly analyzes the setting for interorganizational cooperation for innovation in the Brazilian panorama between 2003 and 2011 based on data from the Innovation Research, known as PINTEC, elaborated by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). Through documental research, within a qualitative framework, secondary data were used, which were obtained from the PINTEC reports on cooperation among companies in Brazil, to construct a panorama of the cooperative scenario during the selected timeframe. The analysis revealed that, for the analyzed timeframe, Brazilian companies had most of their cooperative activities with the public with whom they maintain direct contact, such as their clients or consumers and suppliers. Furthermore, it revealed that actors such as universities or research institutes are not considered to be important for cooperative relationships or as information sources. As such, it can be inferred that cooperative activities for innovation are incipient and are not considered as strategic activities by organizations in the Brazilian panorama
Evolução e perspectivas do setor eólico no Brasil: análise dos principais estados produtores

Este artigo propõe analisar a evolução do setor eólico no Brasil, resgatando as políticas públicas de incentivo ao setor, e apresentar tendências para o futuro, destacando a participação dos Estados brasileiros na produção e comercialização da energia eólica. Foi proposto um campo empírico de análise com base em investigação das regiões de maior expressividade produtiva, com uma abordagem qualitativa aos moldes descritivos, perfazendo o campo de uma predição de tendência para o setor. Dados os destaques aos programas governamentais que incentivaram o avanço da energia eólica e aos mecanismos de compra de energia por meio de leilões, observou-se que a região Nordeste, especificamente os Estados do Rio Grande do Norte e a Bahia, concentra a maior parte dos parques eólicos e capacidade instalada. Isso se deve aos incentivos públicos dotados no setor, associados às condições climáticas das regiões e às correntes de ventos. A tendência observada pode ser atribuída de diversas possibilidades, que se somada tanto a fatores endógenos quanto exógenos, ou seja, estímulos estrangeiros em ampliação do uso pela energia limpa com fatores climáticos e econômicos internos no país, este último amparado por apoios governamentais, tornará a fonte predominante no fornecimento de energia elétrica por fontes limpas e renováveis, capaz de reestruturar no longo prazo a cadeia consumidora pela sua amplitude comercial a preços acessíveis e tecnologias de produção e distribuição a um curso disruptivo
Innovation and public incentives: a research about the maturity degree in brazilian companies

The present article aims to identify the influence of public incentives in innovation in the maturity degree of Brazilian companies. Thus, the study starts at the understanding of the innovation conceptive dimension over the Brazilian innovation system and interaction between university, company and government. Accordingly, it was performed a multi-method study with 43 companies attended by the project Pró-Inova/Nagi (2013), which promotes the innovation development in companies established in Federative Brazilian States. The obtained results provide reflections about the influence of public investments in innovation, by predictive qualitative variables associated to quantitative empiric test, explains which variables are significant in the maturity variation degree in companies’ innovation

Este artigo descreve sobre as principais estratégias de expansão no mercado sugeridas a um Hospital Filantrópico situado no estado do Rio Grande do Norte (Brasil). O trabalho foi fruto de um projeto de pesquisa voltado ao aperfeiçoamento do processo de aprendizagem. A problemática estava pautada na necessidade do Hospital em se tornar mais competitivo para atender às exigências do mercado, sendo, imprescindível a formulação de um planejamento das ações a serem tomadas. O objetivo do trabalho foi sistematizar as idéias em um Plano de Negócios para viabilizar a reestruturação e ampliação da Instituição. A metodologia adotada caracterizou-se pela análise do mercado, coleta de informações internas e pesquisa bibliográfica. Ao final, foi possível propor um modelo sistêmico de gestão hospitalar englobando as áreas operacional, financeira e de marketing
Sharing information and knowledge between brazilian researchers

The CIC among Brazilian researchers refers to the activity of providing information and knowledge that enables the joint work of experts for the resolution of problems and development of new ideas or theories, which usually result in joint scientific publications. Thus, the objective of this article is to elaborate a model that relates the factors that influence the diffusion of the CIC among Brazilian researchers in the modality "productivity" of CNPq, as mechanisms for generating innovations and new knowledge, measured by scientific production. As for the method, in a first moment a bibliographic research was carried out to evaluate existing models in the literature regarding the determining factors of the ICC on the capacity of innovation and generation of innovations in the HEIs, especially in the research groups. Next, the structural and measurement model was elaborated and validated using an online questionnaire for data collection, with five-point likert questions, sent to researchers in the productivity modality in research, levels SR, 2, 1A, 1B and 1C of CNPq. The questionnaire was answered by 262 researchers and the collected data were analyzed using the SEM analysis instrument based on PLS. The results found indicated that the hypotheses of the model were accepted. The results revealed that the individual characteristics of the researchers, the organizational characteristics and the technology contribute to the CIC, which in turn favors the generation of publications and promotion of knowledge. In addition, individual characteristics and publications contribute to the advancement of innovation
Strategies in Brazil’s Higher Education and its Reflections

This article aims to identify the strategies used federal the institutions of higher education (IFES) located in the north-northeast of Brazil and its effect on the General index of courses (IGC) developed by the Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira (INEP). The methodology used consisted of a Survey among all the IFES 22 located in Northern and northeastern Brazil, evaluated by the IGC in the period between 2007 and 2011. The results show that the strategies that influenced the positioning of IFES evaluated in the IGC are scaling, monitoring of processes by means of indicators and information systems; the systematic assessment of faculty; systematic awareness of students with regard to the importance of National Examination performance of students (ENADE); the policy of support for the residence of students through scholarships; as well as the creation and excellent functioning of coordination of the MEETING (program support the restructuring plans and expansion of Federal Universities); as well as the Commission Own assessment - CPA; logo should be considered in the planning of IFES
Strategy analysis of the biggest world supermarkets with open capital and which act in the brazilian market

In view of the growth of retail, as well as the performance of large multinational supermarket branch in the Brazilian market, the purpose of this article is an analysis of the strategies of Casino, Carrefour, Walmart and open in the country capital, analyzing their operational, financial indicators socio-environmental initiatives. In order to achieve the main objective of this work, the construction of a method that validates this search was necessary. The main strategies and indicators of the three groups in four areas: corporate strategy, operational areo, financial areo, social and environmental issue, were analyzed. Study of qualitative, descriptive and exploratory character is realised through the importance of these three companies worldwide. As conclusions, it has been the expansion strategies that geared toward developing countries, adherence to new store formats, specializing in electronic commerce, as well as the superiority of Walmart (net sales) and Casino (Profitability)
